Our Story

Don Jorge Albarran opened Las Fuentes in February
of 1982, just three years after moving to Chicago.

Originally from Guerrero, Mexico, Albarran moved to Acapulco at 18 and began working in a restaurant to support his family back home. Soon after, he moved to Mexico City and started working for a man from Chicago at an Italian restaurant named Las Fuentes where he would stay for the next 10 years. At 28, Don Jorge moved to Chicago and worked a series of odd jobs in restaurants, factories, and cutting grass until he saved up enough money to rent a laundry mat in Lincoln Park and slowly furnish and expand the small carpeted room into what we know today as Las Fuentes.

Las Fuentes' broad range of food encompasses the various backgrounds and regions of the many people that have worked at the establishment for the past 37 years. Like a true family-owned business, the Albarran family continues to run Las Fuentes with locations in Lincoln Park, Alsip, and Morton Grove with an air of comfort and genuine hospitality.
